any given day
who knows what it will be
maybe today it’s the phone ringing
and that name on the screen
against your will you answer
warily
treading water as you are pulled
further and further in
to where it is suddenly too deep
and then there you are, alone, trying not to drown
triggers
sneak up on you even though
you see them coming
once pulled
there’s that long, slow slog
through all the pain, again,
trying all the same old tricks you always do
to get your head back above the water
where you can breathe
and watch your back

Yes, we have all been there. I often feel like I live there. Well penned!
Thank you for sharing that. Somehow that’s reassuring. Thank you, too, for your kind words. 🌷
This is so true. It just can sneak up on you. Beautifully written and described.
Thank you for affirming the experience – it’s a very lonely one when you’re in it. Thanks for your kind words. 🌷
