i tread the soft path at river’s edge
where trees reach up
birds flitting between them,
the quiet and the joy
of this wild place brings me back
to wholeness,
it fills me.
my spirit sings and
spirit answers
lifting me up
carrying me on wings
soaring ever higher
past the leafy canopy of trees
above the ever-changing clouds
we sail through the infinite blue
and become the explosion
of stars and shimmering dust
and mystic tunnels of space,
so far beyond,
all there,
at the river’s edge.

Many thanks to Eugi’s Causerie for the delightful prompt, “soaring.”
I agree that any water way is a mystic tunnel of space 😉
I’ve creek nearby and love to sit under the willow.
Late spring I was gifted the visit of a soaring little brown bat – during the day!
Aw! What a delightful picture that brings to my mind – the creek, the willow, and the bat! Thank you! 🌷
Beautiful take on the prompt, Nancy 😊
Thank you so much!! I appreciate you. 🌷
You’re most welcome 🙂
What a lovely piece reflecting the peacefulness of a river’s edge. Waterways seem to inspire inner peace. Beautiful imagery.
Thank you so much for your kind words and, yet again, for the wonderful inspiration.🌷
My pleasure!
Such a vivid and charming piece, Nancy. Somehow it reminded me of Mary Oliver.
Thanks so much, Terry, and, wow, I am humbled that Mary Oliver should come to mind – such a wonderful poet! 🌷
Wow. I loooved this.
